Well last week spring was put on hold for a while, with freezing temperatures and snow. The snow has now subsided and temperatures are now back into double figures. Bulbs are starting to pop up after hiding under the cold snowy layer, with Snowdrops, Primroses and Crocuses all starting to bloom.

Here are a few snowy pictures from last week just so you don't forget.

Can you guess which site this picture was taken on?

Well done if you guessed it was Broomscot Common, taken by Laura Cox on 8th February.

This lovely image of Hinderclay Fen Alder Carr woodland in the snow was taken by Rowena Langston on 9th February.

Not an LOHP site but not far away this picture taken by Nick Lingwood on 7th February shows off the lovely yellow Gorse flowers on Wortham Ling against a very snowy backdrop.

We are pleased to announce that our project ‘Reconnecting people with nature’ has secured funding from Postcode Local Trust. Postcode Local Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Our organisation received £6,972.00 from the Trust to help us to further engage and educate local residents and visitors. The funds will help us to create dedicated waymarked walking routes and an accompanying leaflet that will allow people to explore the Little Ouse and find out more about the wildlife and history of the area, while increasing community access to outdoor space. It will also provide volunteers with equipment to help them carry out surveying and practical conservation work, as well as developing promotional material to raise the profile of the project.

We hope to start work on the project with our volunteers in January 2021 with it being completed by December 2021. So, look out for the new leaflet and walking routes coming soon.
