Events
We run a range of activities, there is something for everyone including practical conservation work parties, events, talks, courses and guided walks to introduce members and visitors alike to the wildlife and landscape of the headwaters of the Little Ouse valley.
For all events and guided walks, we ask for a suggested donation of £3 for members, £4 for non-members unless otherwise stated.

Practical Conservation Work Parties
Want to get outside, learn some new skills and meet new people. Why not join us for our Practical Conservation Work Parties on Wednesday's, Thursday's and the 2nd Sunday of the month. Tasks include scrub clearance, pond digging, access improvements, habitat management and much more.

Guided Nature Sensory* Walk (*optional)

Explore the nature of the fens with an optional sensory element

Join us for a relaxed guided nature walk, jointly hosted by the Little Ouse Headwaters Project and Diss & District Rotary Club.
Come and explore the rich and varied beauty of the valley along the Little Ouse River. Along the way, you’ll learn about this unique landscape, the conservation work taking place, and discover some of the wonderful flora and fauna that call this special place home.
This gentle circular walk will be at an easy pace and last approximately 1-1 ½ hours.
For those looking for something a little different or the option of a shorter walk, there will also be an optional Sensory Walk. With guidance, participants can choose to walk blindfolded and fully immerse themselves in nature - experiencing the sounds, textures, and scents of the environment, from birdsong to leaves and wildflowers.
Wellies recommended. No need to book, just turn up.

Fenland Walk 2026

Join LOHP for a 2.8 mile (4.5km) circular walk around the fens, exploring the landscape and wildlife of the Little Ouse Valley.
We will also have a stall at Thelnetham Windmill Open Day 11am-4pm, with nature table, leaflets, and tombola, along with volunteers at hand to tell you all about what we do and how you can get involved. There will also be windmill tours, tea and cakes and an art exhibition by Creative Fen Group. So why not, pop along and say hello.
