All a Flutter

As the days grow longer and warmer, our feathered friends can be seen to be enjoying the spring. They are starting to inspect nest boxes and can be seen collecting nesting materials. You may even start to find the odd egg shell when you are out on your walks or in your garden from some of the early nesting birds. Our sites are a haven for wildlife, with birds being one of them. During the main bird breeding season from April to the end of August, please keep dogs to the paths and under close control, to avoid disturbance to nesting birds while visiting LOHP sites. Let's protect these special places and the wildlife that call them home.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Everyone at LOHP would like to wish our volunteers, members, supporters and funders all the best at Christmas. We would also like to thank our volunteers for all their hard work and dedication through this last year.

Early Christmas Present

We are pleased to announce that our project ‘Reconnecting people with nature’ has secured funding from Postcode Local Trust. Postcode Local Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Our organisation received £6,972.00 from the Trust to help us to further engage and educate local residents and visitors. The funds will help us to create dedicated waymarked walking routes and an accompanying leaflet that will allow people to explore the Little Ouse and find out more about the wildlife and history of the area, while increasing community access to outdoor space. It will also provide volunteers with equipment to help them carry out surveying and practical conservation work, as well as developing promotional material to raise the profile of the project.

We hope to start work on the project with our volunteers in January 2021 with it being completed by December 2021. So, look out for the new leaflet and walking routes coming soon.
